It bothers me every time, but I've never been able to really summon the exact reason. It's quite a bit like when herbs are referenced to suggest that they "WERE" used for this or that ailment, back in the days of yore, or olden time... not that they ARE a completely viable, and usually, better choice than their pharmaceutical equivalent.
